Col Conk Bay Rum for Christmas!

Yesterday was a very white Christmas here in North Texas with us receiving about 4 inches of snow. My son gave me a wonderful gift of Col Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap which I have never tried. I have many great soaps, but this will be one that I use often because it was his gift to me.

I find that it gives great slickness but mediocre cushion. I absolutely love the scent though. Great stuff overall. Can't beat the slickness from Conk.

There is nothing wrong with Col Conk as it provided a nice smooth shave and the lather was thick and slick.

I like Col Conk's Bay Rum, easy to lather, however the scent was too subtle for my taste. When I melted the puck to transfer into a bowl I added a little Ogallala Bay Rum.

Matt, I'm in McKinney and our white Christmas was quite nice. My wife also got me the Bay Rum and Amber Conk soaps for Christmas. It's good stuff, and I'm liking the scent (Bay Rum, more so than the Amber). This was my first experience with Bay Rum and I was pleasantly surprised.

We got about 4 inches of snow in Celina and it made for a quick Christmas Exit with all my guest who decided to get home before it got to bad on the road. The Conk Bay Rum soap is very nice and provides great lather. I have been very please with its performance.

Just received an order of a variety of soaps and after shaves. I like the bay run soap scent. The lather is nice and smooth. But I also got the after shave and can't stand the smell of it. Similar but not the same as the shave soap.

Thats been my experience as well. Slick and I get a good shave with it but I dont get a thick lather.

Interesting - I get a much richer lather with Bay Rum than with any of the other products I've yet to try (and I will be the first to admit that this list is far too short; with only a dozen odd products). Far more cushion than any of the cremes I've tried (although I have recently decided that I am just not a creme man, unless uberlather is desired...I have terrible luck with them), and it is noticably slicker than the couple of tallow based soaps I've tried. Blows the ultra-cheap grocery store Williams and Wilkinson Sword soaps out of the water. I wonder if this is because I use a poor-mans scuttle (bowl in the sink) rather than face-lathering.
I find the Almond takes a little more work, and the Amber more work yet - but with a little effort, I've been tossing gobs of warm fluffy goodness around the bathroom with both. Lime, on the other hand, smells wonderful but doesn't seem to want to create anything thicker than a watery white layer.

New user here, can you please elaborate

I find that no matter how long or short I load the brush and no matter the water content the lather from it is consistently on the thin side. I guess it is possible I got a bad puck? Regardless, the lather from it is among the slickest I have ever used so it still provides a great shave. I gave my puck to a friend that just started wet shaving but I might order another just to see if that puck was bad or if maybe it was my technique.
