Cobra Classic versus slant

I have seen some past threads on the cobra razor but I would like to know whether the cobra classic from classic shaving is even sharper than either the slant bar from Merkur (34 or 37C) or the Muhle R41? My hesitancy about buying the cobra classic is the price ($169) and the fact that it only works with a couple of blades.

Is the cobra classic better than a straight razor or should one just splurge and buy this bad boy?

The Cobra isn't sharper than a Slant. You can use Feather Pro blades in the Cobra and you can use Feather blades in the Slant. I think that it's subjective as to which Feather is sharper. I personally don't care for the Feather Pro blades in my Cobra, I really like the Kai Mild blades. For me the the Cobra and the Kai mild is the perfect combination.

The feather blades for cobra seem much sharper than feather de blades in slant.

A straight can be all kinds of things based on grind, steel, and finish. Too much to give a one word answer.

I have used a Father DE blade in a Slant and use the Feather Professional in the Cobra. (that I now use, nearly every day)/ The Feather blade for the Cobra is a different geometry blade and seems to be stiffer, due to it's small width. In the Cobra I find it to shave closer and easier.....just my preference.

This is like comparing a Porsche Cayman to a sedan. First, whose sedan do you want to compare the Cayman to and then, why? There isn't anything else in the shaving world like a Cobra, and all slants aren't alike.

+1. Good comparison. BTW, can you clear your PM's, they're full.
