What's new

Cobra Classic arrived today

Managed to get hold of a new Cobra Classic, one of only ten available in the UK.
Can't wait to use it tomorrow morning. Only slight dissappointment is the quality of the razor, I have a Pils and a Feather AS-1 and the quality of the Cobra is almost laughable in comparison.
However I bought it for it's performance and looks and the quality isn't bad it's just not great for the price.
Will report back tomorrow on the first shave.

Concerning Cobra quality, I always thought the Cobra lockup mechanism and blade loading method were very low tech. Look at the intricate design and engineering on the old Schick injectors with the safe injector cartridges.

But it seems they're good shavers. I hope you like yours.

Got out my favourite pre shave cream, shaving cream aftershave balm and brush for the inaugural shave with the Cobra. There has been much written about the Cobra so I will keep my observations very short.
I had the closest, most comfortable, irritation free shave I have ever had with no nicks or cuts whatsoever and that was with Feather Light blades!
I had no difficulty in loading the blade or adjusting to the wider head of the Cobra(compared to a DE Razor). I have six DEs in rotation, three modern and three vintage(all Gilletes), the Cobra was supposed to give me my seventh so I could use a different razor every day, after my first experience with it I don't think that I will be using anything else for several days to come.

Congratz! I think the Cobra Classic is as good as it currently gets for DE/SE type shaving. Not so much because the Cobra itself is that great, but rather, because it's built around what I think is currently the best "disposable" blade in the business - the Feather Artist Club series. I wish more "artisan" razor guys would build a few more handles for the Artist Club Blades - particularly the Professional Super - which would take us up yet another notch.

I agree with Jeff, retturn2blades. I was interested in a Cobra last year, but I couldn't get passed the lockup. Having said this, I, too, have read where guys really like the way they dispatch stubble. The razor has very clean lines--I wish you the best with it and hope that you enjoy using it. If it shaves great for you, therein lies the true test.

Tom, you and I share the exact same opinion!

What I would really love to see is Feather make a handle for their AC blades using the same compression method they use on their AC straights.
