Coate's Cream At The Gentleman's Shop

Hey chaps. I was just nosing around at The Gentleman's Shop and it appears Robert has the new Coate's shave cream available. It is only offered in Tea Tree scent right now but we can hope the range is expanded later. I did not look at the shipping availability in the U.S. but I am guessing it is available. I hope a U.S. vendor takes this up because I would love to try it and carriage from UK is prohibitively expensive. Lets hope this is one resurrection that goes better than the hard soaps we have seen reformulated over the last few years. I know that Robert had good things to say in the vendor forum about the return of this old classic brand. I suspect that knowing TGS, it will be fine.

Hes suppose to be expanding the range by the fall. I have two pots of the limited edition on its way to me :)

Well done Isaac. PLEASE share at least a preliminary thought or two on it's performance. I rarely use shave creams anymore and only buy those that stand out in performance (Castle Forbes) or have a unique scent like AOS lemon or possibly Musgo Real. Heck, Robert even mentioned in one thread at SMF that he thought Castle Forbes made the best lime and lavender shave creams there are so would not be trying to ape them. I concur. Castle Forbes is so good I never expect any cream I try to even approach its performance, let alone surpass it. So if the Tea Tree turns out to be better than average it will be a nice score. I am hoping West Coast or another vendor here in the States picks it up.

I am really glad to see the venerable old brand brought back to the fore. I suspect Robert and company have done their best on it knowing TGS's reputation. We shall see.

Regards, Todd

Well done Robert. And thank you for bringing this brand back to the shelves. Glad to see you post.

I hope they bring back Coates Lavender. Probably my favorite cream of all time. I have one small tube left that I'm babying!

Not a vendor on this occassion, a manufacturer!

checked the websites of these vendors, none mention coate's products; any idea when they will be in stock?

Here are my first impressions of the new Coates cream!

I was going to go with a soap for my next purchase but Mantic's video has persuaded me to go back to the cream side and give this one a go. I'm in the UK so for once retail is on my side. :001_cool:

+1. I went to each website and there is no mention of Coates. :mad3:

qed responded to an email today and indicated he would have it as soon as custom's was finished with it. he indicated he was only able to obtain a small number (didn't say how many). i told him to tell the custom's agents to get their own.

I used this for the first time this morning. Everything Mantic says is right (see that review cop out there!? :biggrin1:)

This stuff smells and feels great. A little really does go a very long way too.

The cream is in the original Coates pots (just peel back the label to see what cream the pot was originally intended for - mine was the Limes :biggrin1:)

Well worth the wait. :boat:

I can't wait for Bullgoose to get this in as I'm about to pull the trigger on a vie-long and want some of this as well (in addition to some p160, cella, valobra....)
