Cleaning Shine Applicator Brush - question

How do you gents clean the small brush used to apply polish to your shoes.

I use a little saddle soap to clean my brushes.

I use a different brush for each color (both applicator and buffing brushes). Never occurred to me that I had to clean them. Everything seems good after 2 years

If you need to clean them you're applying too much polish, or you should use a different brush for each color polish.

P.S. I use a horse hair applicator brush.

Throw it away and buy a new one ... actually, buy several. One for each color of polish that you use.

I also use a worn tooth brush to apply polish (Kiwi), to the 'crevice' where the 'stiching' meet the sole and the edge(s) of the sole.

Me too! They work great and they stay out of the landfill.

I use a separate one for each color. They are actually foam applicators that I dab on a paper towel to remove any excess before putting them away. As for the buffing brush, you really shouldn't be getting that much polish on it.

Soak them in ammonia, was what a cobbler told me he did. He said it breaks down the wax, and the rest of the ingredients are tied to that. Never tried it, so YMMV.
