cleaning aluminium

I have just received a brush the same as this and am going to attempt a restore
so while i wait for the knot to arrive i want to clean it up a bit so what is best to use on aluminium handles, i have some maas will that be ok or is there something better suited?

I know they sell metal cleaners specific to aluminum especially for cookware but if you have some maas I would try it first it can't harm it.

Nice handle Tony!

Silvo (from the makers of Brasso) specifically says it's suitable for aluminium...worked wonders on a British Tech :001_smile

Should be easily available in supermarket cleaning products aisle.

I think it depends on what you're going for. I restored a dubl duck brush that was in slightly worse shape, and took it all the way to a (very near) mirror finish. You can see it in this thread: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=114970&highlight=restorations&page=5.

The product that I used was Mother's Mag and Chrome polish - it's really inexpensive (probably around $5USD) and works great. You just have to provide a fair bit of elbow grease!

i protect it against the rust with a car polish named "auri" but any car protector will work ,dupont or meguiars .something with teflon will work better in my opinion .
