Cigars and your taste buds

Here's an interesting question for you guys: Can you paralyze your taste buds by smoking too many cigars? I'm quitting cigs by smoking cigars, and have probably smoked 100 cigars in the last two months. Easy. My cigar taste started out liking mild maduros - now I can only really enjoy spicy, med-full flavored cigars. In the last few days, I've noticed a cool, creamy feeling on the roof of my mouth toward my teeth after smoking about 1 inch of a cigar. I realize now its a numb sensation, and reduces my ability to taste the cigar fully. What gives? I'm a bit concerned! Concerned that I won't be able to appreciate my favorite cigars as much
:cursing:

the numbing of the mouth doesnt sound too normal too me, are you maybe burning yourself? Similar to pipe smoking, if you smoke a cigar too fast it can get hot and bitter.

I've never noticed with a pipe, but a friend and I have both commented about lessened taste the day after smoking a full tasting cigar. But it does go back to normal.

i've noticed pipes are a lot more bland after smoking a cigar too, but I've never had the roof of my mouth go numb because of cigars.

So it is very possible that the stimulation from the cigars is overloading the nerves in your mouth. (Both smell and taste) other than that, I am really not sure what the numbness is from other than possibly heat as Boris said earlier. The smoke may possibly be leaving a residue in your mouth. Albeit a very fine residue. Does the feeling to away with a glass of water or something like hot coffee or tea? If so then I is probably a film from the smoke, if not you may want to try smoking them a bit cooler. Odd question, are you lighting with cedar, match, or lighter. That could be the culprit too. Hope this helps!

I've been smoking 2-3 full bodied, full flavored cigars every day for the last month, and the month prior it was mild-med cigars. It only happens after 20-30 min of smoking one of my spicy nicotine bombs. It does not feel numb while drinking, eating, etc., only when the smoke hits the roof of my mouth. I initially thought it was a flavor profile, like an vanilla sunday flavor or something, but I realize that all full bodied, spicy cigars are doing it to me now.

I don't smoke fast, I'm not getting burnt. I hope a couple day break will cure this issue. AJ Fernandez says he smokes 15-17 cigars in a day, every day. How's that guy even taste anything???
