Cigar box pen case

A friend gave me a few old cigar boxes, so I decided to turn them into pen cases. A nice, easy way to store my vintage pens. Here is one of the Parker boxes. Enjoy.

Cool. I might have to make one of those.

Nice collection too.

Thanks.

This box literally takes 10 minutes to make. I just cut a wooden dowel into lengths appropriate for the cigar box. Then glue the dowels to the bottom. Cover with self adhesive craft felt. Done. Very, very easy and a nice way to store them.

This one is from a deeper cigar box. Same concept, except it is three levels. The two upper "trays" just stack inside.

I had the same idea for a dresser valet with my boxes, nice to see that other people have the same good ideas that I do too!

No reason to let the boxes go to waste, especially if you are a cigar smoker. I am not, but you've got me thinking more and more about the pipe..... Need something vintage.

Well if you have a styrofoam and can cut out the pipes shape and cover it in felt you should be golden, leave a spot for a pipe tool, lighter, pipe cleanters and maybe a small pouch of tobacco and you are set.

I need to learn about pipes and tobacco and potentially purchase one first before I worry about making storage for pipes! You've just got me thinking about pipes from reading some of your other posts.

Pop over to the Brown Leaf sub forum, bunch of good guys over there. Welcome to B&B.

On edit: don't be afraid of starting with a cob. It is an inexpensive way to see if you like it.

I definitely plan to pop over to the leaf. Thanks!

The corn cob suggestion sounds like a good one.

That's a great idea. I didn't even know they sold adhesive felt! I have a few cigar boxes that I bought for nice storage boxes and this looks like a better use for them! Thanks for the inspiration.

I've been reading up on "flocking", a technique used for lining instead of using adhesive felt.

I plan to explore this option some more.
