I am new to wet shaving and recently purchased the Choice Blade Sampler Pack from West Coast Shaving. I had already used 2 Derby blades that came with my razor and was satisfied with them. However, they did feel like they pulled a little and were a little irritating on my face, which I assumed was technique related. Today, I grabbed a Crystal "Israeli" blade that came in the sampler pack to try. Wow! No tugging or pulling, and a wonderful shaving experience. I'm sure my technique is improving and that helped my shave, but man what an enjoyable shave this morning. I'm looking forward to trying out more blades in this pack.

imo the feather is not the death trap everyone makes it to be. its not a good blade for me but i see no reason someone should not try it just make sure to know its very sharp and be a bit more careful with it. it could be his go to blade...
I didn't say it was. But the best way to work it, IMHO along with others, is least sharp to sharpest. It's ultimately his choice which blade order to choose, and if he finds the Feather works best for him once he gets to it, great.
for me i jumped right in and used the sharpest blades knowing my hair needed them.. then when time came to use a dorco or a merkur or derby etc i knew why i liked the others better right away after almost the first pass. this also helped me learn the right angles and how to properly use the blades instead and using the dullest and continuing to use them and not advancing because of it. for me when i want to do something i jump right in no matter what lol, heck i just re-roofed my house which i never did before and passed all the inspections and everything no issues never did it before.

The Israeli Blue (Crystal) is one of my faves. Smooth, durable. Good price point. So happy ...
