Cheapo Custom Stand

So who has made a completely cheap stand and loved it? I bent a hanger to make a straight stand.

Any other creative stands that people have built on the cheap?

My setup:
-Dovo Tortoise Special 6/8 w/Custom-built Hanger-stand
-EJC Barley DE
-AoS Engraved Silvertip

Do you think it is alright to rest my DE like that? It doesn't fit the stand. Maybe I could mill it out?

I made one out of a hanger as well. I found out how in www.instructables.com. Curiously, the hanger is the same color as yours. It looked cool on my Merkur travel razor and boar bristle brush that had a wood tone handle. Now I am looking for something cooler for my gold Gillette (not sure which model it is yet,) and black handled Art of Shaving pure badger brush. So far, everything is chrome based.

Concerning DE, the trick is finding a way to keep everything balanced. Otherwise, one item will make the entire stand fall.

Since moving into nicer, older, more expensive razors that would be difficult to replace (fiscally and emotionally) I have stopped hanging my DEs entirely. These days my shaver of choice rests on a ring-display I snatched from work and lays comfortably on it's side when not in use. No risk of falling down when you're already down, right? BTW, nice work with the straight-stand!

The DE is actually pretty solid, sitting there. the stand is planted. what I am afraid of is wear on the tip of the DE handle.

Does anyone know how I would go about grinding a little metal out of the razor holder-part? It ALMOST fits ><

I had a similar problem with a stand I bought on the bay.

I used a pair of channel locks with rubber grips and ever so gently pried the holder ring ends apart, first in one direction, then the other, so that the height of the two ring ends stayed level.

Grinding is likely to really ugly up the plating.

made a couple with garden wire, and quite a few of my safety razors are held in the grill from the back of a very budget bbq.
