Now that walmart is cutting VDH I don't have a source for inexpensive boar brushes. Where else can they be had? brick or interweb.

You can buy that same VdH brush by itself many places. I've seen it at both Walgreens and CVS.
Agree with kevtex the Omega Pro 49 for $9 is a outstanding value.
Shoebox Shaveshop also has a pretty good selection of boar brushes.

+1 -- the $10 Omega boars are fantastic brushes for the price, and pretty good brushes anyway.
The Shoebox Shave Shop has some Boreals for sale. I believe some guys on here have ordered them - maybe they can chime in.
Burma shaves are available online for 4-5$ plus shipping.

+1 on the nostalgia handles - a golden nib badger will fit just fine !!
I haven't personally tried them, but I heard they aren't the greatest brush in the world. Lots of clipped bristle. Are they cheap? Sure. So are VDH's, but honestly why not spent a few more dollars and get a $9-10 Omega from West Coast Shaving or Shoebox Shaveshop? They're much better brushes in my opinion.
I might become a good supplier of inexpensive boars. I need to get rid of some of this stuff!
omegas can be had from a variety of vendors, including ebay. i got my 49 for $12.99 including shipping.
I have tried those low cost Boreal brushes the Shoebox is clearancing out. It's a serviceable brush, but about as scratchy as they come. I am pretty sure it won't soften too much over time.
I haven't tried any Boreals myself, so I can't speak for them. I just mentioned Shoebox because Gary does carry a large selection of Omega boars.
I like firm brushes but the Boreal 976 was outrageous. The other boreals might be worth a go.
You can get Omega boar brushes at www.qedusa.com or www.westcoastshaving.com for under $15.00. I also think Vulifxs has boar brushes for around $ 10.00 at www.classicshaving.com. I've used the Omega professional boar and been extremely happy with it.
