I went cycling early today to beat the Texas heat, and part of my pre ride ritual is to apply the Chamois Butter directly to the padding in my shorts. This works absolute wonders when spinning long, hot miles where there is not much between your butt and the saddle of the bike. While I was riding I got the idea to try this cream as a pre-shave balm. So after a hot shower I used about a quarter sized dollop in my hands and applied it to my 3 day beard. I then applied a layer of Nivea, loaded the Polsilver into the Merkur, set it to 1, and for the first time in about 4 weeks I actually enjoyed my shave.
I was able to make multiple passes over the same area keeping my skin wet while checking for stubble with each pass, I now have a BBS face.
After everything was all said and done I had two small weepers that appeared on my neck. These were taken care of with a little water and a tissue patch.
The Chamois Butter may seem radical to some but after reading the ingredients and comparing them to what's in the Nivea I figured I have nothing to lose. After all, it does work wonders with preventing chaffing in the my nether regions while riding
