Cerakote!

Thanks for the comments folks and thanks to Warhawk for the linkup. Email Jared at EAC concepts if you're interested. Changes the heft of the razor slightly and shaves very smooth. This one cost me $65 before shipping. Worth every penny IMHO!

Wow! Love it. Very stealth shaving.:ninja:

Interestingly enough, while my wife actually had positive comments about the look, she immediately started making fun of me and telling me I now have "all my stealth shaving needs taken care of". Lol....can't win with SWMBO!

are there any flaws in the finish that you can see? and how long do they say it will hold up over time / will it chip easily if it lightly taps something etc?? i would be doing it to stainless not over chrome. wondering if you asked about that kind of thing. lastly how hard is it to keep it clean being black? i would love to do this to my ikon open comb and slant...

Cerakote is very tough, they use it to coat even the high stress internal parts of firearms. It should easily hold up to many many years of shaving use.

Wow lots of questions....are you an engineer? (My wife is...that's why I ask).

No flaws
Didn't ask on life of coating
Pretty tough...light taps do nothing, but as an owner of ceramic watches I can tell you hard knocks are bad...it is highly scratch resistant however
I clean it as I clean all my razors...so far, no difference...rinse, dry and put away

If you're interested, hit up,Jared via email...he'll answer your questions and yes, he regularly coats firearms as well

well kind of sort of not engineer but formerly in the robotics field.

Your Merkur looks fantastic! Enjoy the razor.
Jared does great work. He did a Weber PH head along with a UFO handle in Graphite Black for me and it looks incredible although it already has chips from me dropping it on cement/stones/ground from taking pics of it for the SOTD thread!

Where does your razor lie on Moh's Scale of Hardness now?

Also, how does the current coefficient of friction compare with the previous incarnation?

Finally, does it come in rainbow?
