Caswell Massey

Got a catalog in the mail the other day from Caswell Massey, and never before noticed that they sell shaving soaps. Anyone ever tried them, and if so, are they worth it?

Avoid Caswell Massey shaving soap at all cost. How do I know? I ordered a puck without consulting B&B users first and it was a big mistake. I tried it once, experienced the worst lather (can I even call it that?) in my life. Promptly tossed the puck and kept the wooden bowl and I have never looked back.

I went with Cella and MWF and couldn't be happier.

Colognes, ***, and bath soaps are all first class; shaving soap is, mysteriously, crap. You'd think a company with that history would have gotten it right, but....

Do yourself a favor, take them to the nearest rest area and toss them in the urinals. The urinals will smell better and you'll have better shaves. And don't worry, I doubt that any of the pucks would lather even after being wizzed on for weeks by those passing by.

Thanks for the heads up! I got some aftershave from them a long time ago, before I ever used a de razor, and have been getting catalogs ever since. I was thinking of getting some more actually (number six I think it is called) when I noticed the soaps. Duly noted.

It amazing that everything that they have except the shaving soap & cream are first rate. I just don't understand.

A barber shaved me with their almond shaving cream and I thought it was pretty good. I haven't heard anything good about their newer soaps, though.

Well I ran across the sale before I read the reviews. Consequently, I'm awaiting the arrival of half a dozen pucks. I don't even have a bowl
If anyone has an old CM wooden bowl that they will never refill and want to divest themselves of it please PM me. At least I can make them look proper on the counter.

(If I can acquire two of them I can give one as a gift to someone I don't like)!
