Castle Forbes Lime

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has tried Castle Forbes and can give me some review of the sent and quality of the lather.

Thanks in advance, Pat.

Castle Forbes is very highly regarded and is in the upper echelon of shaving creams. There lime is legendary and is a must try. Lime scents very so much that you must try them for yourself but it is very pleasing and classy smell.

Two summers ago I went on a lime binge. I tried six lime creams and soaps.

Today,they're all gone except CF.

IMHO, it's simply the best lime on the market.

I used CF lime this morning and had an excellent shave. I think that CF shaving creams are among the finest on the market . I have all three and will not be without them. I would not be deterred by the initial price because this is such a high performing product it takes very little to get loads of lather sufficient for four passes. I think that all three scents are outstanding. The lavender is clearly the finest lavender scented shaving product on the market in my view. I don't think that you will be disappointed with this fine product line.

Regards,

Doug

The quality of the lather of CF lime just blew me away. I'd only used Proraso green soap and cream, ToBS Sandalwood, and Speick before this, but it showed me how much better a soap can get. Rich, thick, slick and cushiony, amazing.

I wasn't toppled over by the scent however. I mean, it's fresh and definitely lime, but I didn't find the lime to engulf me during the shave the way say Prorasos menthol kick envelops you through the whole shave.

That said, you really do owe it to yourself to try it out and see what you think. I believe it's one of those must try's.

The CF limes scent is the best one I've tried. That being said, I feel as though I am a rarity on B&B in that I don't find this cream to be one of the better performers in my den. I have hung on to it and occasionally bring it out to see if I get better results. As CF gets so much love here I have tried really hard to feel it, just not for me. That being said, it seems to me that the overwhelming concensus is that this is a great product, and you won't go wrong getting some. There are plenty of gentleman in this forum who would probably buy it in a heart beat if you don't like it. Mine, I'll be giving mine to my brother when he visits, maybe it will work for him.

Hello Pat,

I've probably tried at least 30 creams over the years(maybe many more than 30) and IMO, CF Lime is the absolute BEST all around performer on the market anywhere Marvelous true lime scent, great protective lather and moisturizing too.It has no weak points whatsoever.Well worth the $35 pricetag. And by the way,the 200 mll tub lasts a very long time !

Castle Forbes is one of the best shave creams you will find and you will not be disappointed with its performance. However scent is to personal for me to say its the best lime I have used as I prefer other manufactures for a lime fragrance. You will not be disappoint with your purchase of CF but you should consider trying the lime from T&H, QCS, Mystic Waters, the India Old Spice Fresh Lime, and KMF to name a few.

I could use a lot of superlatives to describe the lather and scent of CF Limes. Let's just say that it stands out primarily because of the scent and the lather. Pure lime scent and thick creamy lather with little effort. The results delivered are equally excellent.

Castle Forbes creams are some of the best I have tried. If not number 1 in my den. Both the lavender and lime smell fantastic. It takes so little product to build an insane amount of lather that it lasts forever so for the price it's not that bad really. My four year old made an amazing lather with it. You can't go wrong with some castle and Forbes. If you want to try a few samples send an email to Kathy at colonial drug store in Boston and she will send you some.

I've got a lot of these that you mentioned and I consider CF in the top tier where many of these are not. I also consider MDC and MWF at the top as well. I guess my mileage varies! :)

B&B membership has its percs
Castle Forbes Limes smells great, but, it was one of only two or three shaving soaps/creams that I have tried (maybe 50+?) that caused my skin to react. I put mine into one of the passaround boxes

Of course - wet shaving is all YMMV :001_smile

Castle Forbes just does not do particularly well with my water and skin type for some reason - I don't get a reaction from it, but after 25+ shaves with it, I'm just not that overwhelmed by it any more as I was in the beginning......just being honest here.
I still prefer the CF Lavender over the CF Lime by a good deal, but neither are no longer among my Top 10 shaving products - but they are still darn good creams, just not in my personal Top 10........rather like my Top 15-20 YMMV :biggrin1:

CF Lime is also rather poor at healing my skin if I use a less than new blade, whereas other of my creams do a much better job here......
This is why I never use CF Lime during the cold season, it sucks at healing cuts even though it says on the outside of my CF Lime 'For skin prone to nicks and cuts', which makes me laugh since I never have heard of a lime scented shaving cream that will heal nick and cuts
This is what lavender, almond and aloe vera creams are for - not lime based creams, but ohhhh wellllll...... :closedeye

I know CF Lime has a LOT of fans, I'm just not one of them any more........it's almost like my Fitjar shaving creams - awesome scent, pretty average shaving performance for the price - YMMV !
