Castle Forbes- A stupid question

Hey Folks,

For those of you who use Castle Forbes shaving cream- do you keep the second, inner plastic lid/covering or discard it once you start using the cream?

Would tossing it adversely affect the cream over time?

Some people say the inner lid aids in long-term freshness of the cream. though not all companies use them.

In any case, I keep mine.

Rick, don't worry about tossing it. I've used Castle Forbes for years and never had any issues by tossing the inner plastic lid. I think this goes for any other tubs as well like Truefitt & Hill which also comes with an inner lid. It's far more convenient to just get rid of it or put it aside if you ever sell the cream on the B/S/T. :thumbup1:

I do keep it.
And my two bowls of Castle Forbes, Lime Oil and Lavender Oil, after six months, are in perfect shape.:thumbup1:

AOS uses them on their creams as well.
I toss them. It's just one more little thingy to have to mess with during my relaxing shave.

I threw mine out but should have kept it. I cant see my cream going bad because of it not being there but I am keeping the one on my small travel size Castle Forbes lavender.

I for one keep the plastic lid to keep the cream in place. When I received my new shipment a few weeks ago the cream looked like oatmeal because it melted so bad and if the lid wasn't on it would have been everywhere. And when I travel I take the whole tub and when it's 110 degrees outside it helps to keep things neat until the cream hardens again.

I kept it. When I received the jar and removed the inner lid, I scraped some cream off that inner lid and used it for my first shave, and just instinctively put the inner lid back on. Plus, the inner lid seemed somehow "substantial" so I figured it shouldn't be thrown out. Whatever.

I chuck it. It's such a hassle to remove it everytime you want to use the cream.

Castle Forbes has been sooo disappointing to use. IMHO of course.

I'm finally nearing the end of my AOS Lavender cream after 7 months (pretty good value for that longevity, amazingly), and I've kept the inner lid all this time (like others, for no particular reason). It's not much of a hassle, since I've gotten used to opening the jar upside down so that the inner lid stays in the external lid.

I kept mine as well. I figure there's a lot of cream in there, and a little goes a long way, so a good air barrier seemed like cheap insurance.

Trumper's comes with a plastic lid, too, and I kept it. It's not trouble at all to open the container, and I fancy that it might help keep the cream fresher, but I could be just making that up.
