Can't ID my Gillette!

I've got a Gillette razor here that I cannot seem to identify!

It resembles a TTO version of the ball end Tech that I have, and looks a AWFUL lot like the Super Speeds, but the rotating portion on the end of the handle is black plastic instead of matching silver metal.

Any idea what this is, and about how much it's worth?

Thanks guys!

Sounds like one of the black tip superspeeds. I was pretty sure that those had plastic knobs like the OP was describing. That's why we have the "rare" tan tipped superspeed (black tip SS soaked in chemicals that changed the color)

Edit: To answer how much it's worth, I'd guess 10-15 bucks depending on the condition. If it's super mint with a nice case, you may get a little more

I guess black tipped super speed it is!

Thanks for the help on this one guys.

I don't have a case, and I wouldn't say mint condition due to the fact that its been used, but it's clean with no damage, corrosion, or plating loss.

See the Super Speed ID link in my signature for positive ID.

Well I'll be dipped.
I just took a closer look at my black tip, and the knob is not metal as I had assumed. Learn something new here every day.
I'm sure glad I didn't wager to eat it if it turned out not to be metal.
So is this bakelite?

Are you sure it's plastic?
Gillette did make some 40's style super speeds with black tips, but they were metal.
Okay, never mind there, resolved further down (clicked as I read ).

There ya' go. But as I learned from the Sage Gillette Master who answers this question below (unless my memory is playing tricks on me again, which it does from time to time ), there were some (very rare I think?) black tips that were metal. IIRC, Guido said he's seen like one or two. AG, did I remember correctly?

Nope. It is plastic.

:ouch1:

Thanks for all the knowledge shared, you've really made this place a super source for the inquisitive newbie we all begin as :thumbup1:. Happy New Year!

True. I haven't seen one myself, but I have heard from members here about the metal tipped black tip.

Yup, thanks to the Super Speed ID page, I've found a match. Aluminum handle black tip super speed!

Thanks again guys.
