Why are you typing this. You should be sitting a hundred meters off shore on your board waiting for it.

You have to give up your Hawaiian citizenship now.

I'm in Riverside County in Southern California, and we just had a relatively small quake about 15 minutes ago. 3.9 in Idyllwyld. a small mountain town about 40miles from me. I'm sure its related to the big one way up North.

Craziness!

Well it was a non-event. While it's a blessing, the lack of tangible effects makes the public less willing to evacuate the next time there is a warning.

Doubtful. That area has been shaking like a leaf for decades. It started to calm down after the Anza quake, then we had the swarms around Obsidian Butte and Bombay Beach, then it started to calm down and once again we had the big Easter 2010 quake in Mexico.
That whole area is VERY active... the badlands along the 60 are the San Jacinto Fault Zone where the

The Canadian quake is at the extreme north end of the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Completely different mechanics involved in the fault structure.

Last night at 8:04 I was in a theatre in Vancouver watching an opera show. We were sitting down and didn't feel a thing. It was too far north (the epicenter).

Glad you guys on the other side of the ocean didn't get a tsunami...

Well it was a non-event.

Canadian earthquakes are just too polite, I guess. No giant wave sweeping across the shore, no major property damage or serious injuries ... some broken crockery and a few picture frames, and a whole bunch of people chatting to each other ...

"No, I didn't feel it either. Did you?"
