can you use an aftershave balm as an everyday moisturizers on non-shave days?

I am a bit of a minimalist and cannot be bothered at all to have both a aftershave blam and a moisturizer so can I use a balm as a moisturizer when not shaving? I mean to say is it 'proper' and 'correct' to do so?

I use nivea sensitive for both balm and moisturizer and they seem the same to me but is a moisturizer different to a balm and does it have different ingredients and/or properties?

Thanks yet again BnB!

I don't know the answer to the question of "is it proper", but I do it all the time and can't see anything wrong with it in the least.

Here is what it says on the back of The Real Shaving Co. ASB:

  1. Use daily after shaving with The Real Shaving Co. Shave Cream.
  2. Squirt a small amount onto your hands.
  3. Massage gently onto your face to soothe, protect and moisturise.
  4. If your skin is extra dry, apply more than once daily.
  5. use after every shave for maximum benefit.

I do it all the time - at least twice a day. I may be a girly man, but now that I have gotten used to it, my skin doesn't feel right without it.

I do it all the time. I just like Pre de Provence asb too much for my own good. I think the Nivea asb also suggests using it at night to moistureize the face and help soften the beard for a morning shave.

Proraso Pre Shaving Cream probably has a better reputation on this forum as an after shave than a pre shave. This creme is like Nivea with Eucalyptus and Menthol. I often use it for both.

I use my ASB as my daily moisturizer whether or not I shave that day. The way I see it is, if its good enough to use on your face right after shaving when your face is most sensitive then its good enough to use any time! Ive found that using an ASB is less likely then a facial moisturizer to cause my face to breakout.
