Can you identify these Gillettes?

Can I call on the members resources to identify these two razors?
The Comb razor to the left side of the pictures
The only information stamped on the comb razor on the left of the picture is 'Trade Gillette Mark' in an elongated diamond on the bottom left of the comb and 'Made in Canada' on the bottom right. There is nothing else stamped on it . The handle appears to be silver plate on brass and is finely knurled. The comb and top plate appear to be hard (chromium?) plated. The high spots on the handle are rubbed free of plating. It weighs 56g.

The Other razor to the right side of the pictures
The only marks on this razor are 'Gillette' in an elongated diamond to the top left of the plate and 'Made in England' to the right top. There are no other marks. The handle is longitudinally ribbed with additional knurling on the lower end of the ribbing. The handle, where the plating has worn through, is showing copper. It weighs 53g.
Can anyone advise as to the model and possible age of each of them.

Thanks in anticipation

The one on the left looks to be a Canadian Old-Type Pocket Edition. Looks to be in good shape, and will give a good close shave once you master the angle of attack. It was produced in the 1920s.

The one on the right is a British Tech with the fat handle. A less aggressive razor than the Old-Type, with the right blade it too is capable of nice close shaves. This one is from the late '40s - early '50s.

Both nice razors that belong in any collection, as well as most rotations! :thumbup1:

Maybe two Techs?

One ball end, open comb.
The other regular, fat handled?

You may want to chcek out Mr-Razor.com, Achim's renowned Gillette site.

Could be an Old indeed:

Sorry, Wim, but Techs didn't come with an open comb and didn't have rounded posts that went through the base plate. "Old Type" is the correct ID on that one.

(fat handled Tech is correct on #2)

Phew...
Beat you in a second

I realized that myself so did some homework.

'Think and research before you post' should be my new adagio

It's an easy mistake to make. Try IDing a NEW Improved vs. NEW one of these days. Some of them you really have to know what you're looking for and see them at just the right angle. And, incidentally, Gillette had the New Improved out before the New. Thanks for the confusion Gillette.

Thank you for your input. In use I find the Canadian 'Old Type' too aggressive but perhaps I should persevere with it and experiment with the angle of attack.
