Can anyone identify this razor?

I recently acquired this 4-piece razor and I don't know what brand it is or what year it was made. The only word on it is GERMANY on the bottom of the head.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

it's a German Open Comb 4 Piece Travel Razor!


That's all I know. I have one that's practically identical which is marked "Cosmo Mfg Co Germany" and I used to have another that just said "Germany" like yours. They pop up quite a bit, and are probably from the 30's.

I don't think that there is much information out there on how to identify which company made a particular razor like the one that you have. Some are stamped Hoffritz, but that is the only name I remember seeing with any sort of regular consistency. Most don't seem to bear any distinguishing marks. I've found that the two that I have used are incredibly mild shavers.

I've got two of these, both were pretty cheap. One was made in Austria, and is simply unusable. The posts aren't lined up right so the blade would always be crooked. The other was made in Germany, and looks like it should be okay. Neither one is as shiny and new looking as the one in the original post, though.
