Buying a new Merkur Razor issue

I bought a new merkur razor and here is a description of what I received:

The internal frame of the merkur box was broken thru where the head piece is held. I pulled the knob piece off and found that there is a plating flaw up towards the threading. Also the inside barrel of this razor has rust in it. The top opening of the merkur box has a larger than normal re-printed sticker to cover what looks like box damage underneath.

Do you think that this is a used razor?

Maybe just damaged new stock. Was this in the description when you bought it?

No the seller swears it is shipped direct from germany only brand new merchandice.

If your happy with the razor, just drop it and enjoy, If you think the razor is affected in some way ask the seller to refund your money and explain to him why.

It would make me angry if someone sold me a used razor as new. However my favorite shaver is a 50 year old Fatboy so who I am to be giving advice. JMO

If it was presented as used and $10-$12 less price that would be fine. I love it how sellers think as long as they cooperate with a return everything is just fine. Damage has already been done with my dissapointent of what I received and the time and trouble I'll have to go thru to get my money back.

I feel that it was presented as new and it should have been delivered as new. If the box was broken up and there is rust on the device itself, then I for sure would be getting my money back. Hopefully you don't get stuck with a bumb item.

+1 Plus, I would think a seller, would check a box that appears to be broken up.

Now, having said that, is there any chance this may occurred in transit? Though that will not explain the rust.

I'm sure though, if they are so highly rated, that if you explain to them what you described to us, that they will give you a full refund and make it up to you somehow. If they don't, the least you can do is warn others by leaving feedback that explains how you were treated.

I hope it all works out for you, that really stinks...going through the effort online, the waiting and anticipation of getting it, then having to go through the effort of the return and refund, what a hassle.

brand new with rust. I can understand some of the strange trends out there but this one is beyond me.

Are you sure it is Rust?

I'm not sure what there is to rust on a Merkur; I thought they were plated Brass and zinc alloy.

But either way, sounds like you deserve your money back; it certainly was not in new condition.

The rust is inside the barrel. It is a barber pole style razor.

That must be a used razor!.. Send the seller pics and try to resolve it with them first (it may be an honest mistake!!); if that doesn't work I would be raising a dispute!

The seller has solved the problem on my terms and now all is good. Within hours of when I addressed the problem to them. Now I can see the 100%.
