Bulgarian Rose Shaving Soap

I received a couple of tubs of SRD's Bulgarian Rose shaving soap and love the scent. I'd like to get it out of the tub and into a shaving mug but like most glycerine based shaving soaps, it's stuck to the plastic tub. Does anyone have a sure-fire way to do this, at $50.00 a tub I don't want to ruin a tub of this lovely scented shaving soap...

Very easy... take the lid off... and put them in the freezer. In the morning you can smack them upside down on the table and the pucks will fall out.

How do Bulgarian scents differ from "normal" ones? Sorry to hijack, kinda.

Most rose scents, at least to me, tend to be floral with a touch of sweetness. I like rose scents and have several soaps and creams. The Bulgarian Rose scent is earthy and "dark", if that makes any sense. It is a deep, strong scent that is not flowery, but very rich and complex.

Apparently, the highest-end rose otto comes from both Bulgaria & Turkey. From Nature's Gift's website (a purveyor of high-quality EOs):

The best quality Rose Otto is grown and distilled in Bulgaria and Turkey. The Rosa damascena oils produced in other countries simply do not measure up.

Hi Matt. Well, as someone who loves lavender, I can say that Bulgarian lavender is one of my favourites. While most people think of lavender as a floral, it is really an herb. People think floral since a lot these scents were geared toward women and had a lot of sweet floral oils mixed with them. A good, herbaceous lavender is much nicer to me. The few lavender products I have tried that alleged to have the Bulgarian variety had a nice mint undertone to them. They were not spearmint or peppermint, just "mint" in some form. Just a back note. I really like them. One of the products I tried with it was Aubrey Organics moisturising cream. Great stuff and went on very light. I strongly suggest you try to get ahold of some samples of this type of lavender. If you like it, you will REALLY like it.

Regards, Todd

Wow. That is a helpful link. I like how it desribed the Bulgarian lavender. I get a minty undertone but yeah, rounded and soft would do it. Very nice in toiletries.

If it doesn't pop right out - put the lid back on and run under hot, hot water for a minute or two and then continue to smack it

Mama Bear, you're a genius. Your suggestion of freezing the soap overnight and knocking it out this morning worked perfectly. The entire puck came out perfectly with no visible soap remaining in the plastic container. Thank you very much!!!

I just shaved with the Bulgarian Rose soap, my Goodfella razor with a Gillette Swede blade and what a shave, the closest I have experienced and no irritation. The soap lathers up easily into a rich, creamy lather which is totally devoid of any slimy feel. I lathered it up with my Plisson #10 in European Grey and finished the lather with my Plisson #10 in HMW. A gorgeous, rich, wonderfully perfumed lather resulted. Man, what a shave. I'd like to hear from any brethern who have shaved with this soap, please share your experiences with us.
