Thank you all for the comments. The different between elephant ivory to mammoth is, that mammoth often is not white. Mammoth ivory has a color range from white to black. Many time it is brown, some times also blue. This comes from littel mineralic parts, that went in it over the thousend years in the earth or ice.
A friend of mine is working in the moment in Moscow (Russia) and he had the mammoth from a men there, that carve chess pieces from it. The parts from the tooth I get, are useless for him, but good for razor scales. So the price I must buy was not so gigantic like usual.
Normally the mammoth you can buy out there is too small for our business or has too many cracks and is not stable enought without a liner.
Awesome looking. I've been checking out mammoth ivory lately as I consider making a couple sets of scales for myself, and that's much prettier than most I've seen. I'm a big fan of damascus and long monkey tails too.
