What's new

Brut.

great drugstore fragrance. i wear it on weekends when i'm just running errands. it's the working class version of Trumper's Wild Fern/Penhaligon's English Fern to me--and that's a good thing

Not even close to being one of my favorites. But for those of a certain age it was almost a rite of passage.

I like it, and use it frequently.

I do, however, have to be careful not to use it on days im going to sweat, because that makes it smell like wet dog on me :bigrgin:

I think many guys don't like Brut because they know of someone that wore WAAYYYY too much. Same goes for Polo.

When Brut is used sparingly, it's pretty nice, really. It's easily overdone, though. Oh yea, and the wimminz lub Brut

I wish we had easier access to the various Brut fragrances that are available elsewhere in the world. I'd love to get a sniff of their new Alaska.

First deodorant I ever bought, but soon lost out to Blue Stratos if I remember correctly.

A great typical old school scent which seems to making a comeback. I think thats because its no longer worn by every second person on the street, I think that now belongs to Cool Water.

What do I think of Brut?

Actually, I like it a lot. And I think its a classic. its not something I want to wear every day, but I really, really like it. Its unique, and I also like the tacky history that it has. I'm serious! You know, the bottles phallic associations, the pure 70s retro thing it has going, the machinsmo - all that. And what's great is that Brut has come through all that and remains a classic as much as Old Spice, Aqua Velva, English Leather and the other drug store classics.

One thing I wish is that they would produce it in glass bottles again.

I agree 100%! I recall a time when you couldn't walk 30 feet and not smell Polo. Brut was overworn too. But I loved those Brut 33 TV commercials!

I love it and luckly so does my wife, i think it reminds me of my teenage years when it was cool to wear:001_rolle dont use it all the time but the a/s and anti perspirant is always about.

I make that connection with EF, too, although I love EF and will probably never buy or wear Brut. Ever.

On the other hand, Brut is reputed to Elvis' favorite scent, so maybe.........

EDIT: Note that I said I would never buy or wearBrut myself. I actually like the stuff, but I can't pull it off. I'm hoping I'm pulling off EF, because I sure do love it...

Thanks for your opinions! I have recently become rather fond of Brut after using various higher priced products for years. I am glad to see I am not the only one who appreciates it.

It's true. While a lot of men claim not to like it, ladies love the stuff. My g/f included. I'm like...seriously...you prefer me to wear something that costs $3/ bottle? Okay...
