Brushless creams and gels? why?

Yup. That Creemo Cream stuff is cr*p and so is the orange stuff from Trader Joes. I keep some Gillette Foamy handy when I'm in a rush. Just a little squirt and I'm ready to shave.

The wifey uses cremo for her legs and loves the stuff. YMMV

Brushless creams were issued to US troops in WWII combat zones. According to an article writen during the Anzio invasion by Erinie Pyle it was used for everything, chapped hands and feet, shampoo, wind and sunburn but seldom for shaving.

I have a few sample sizes of some brushless creams, they are handy for the "Dammit, I really missed that one patch badly, and already cleaned out the brush" moments. If you absolutely feel you need to hit that 1 inch patch before you can leave, touch some onto it, shave it, rinse it, and go. Course, I also picked up the samples of the brushless creams I have either free from a Lush Cosmetics store in the mall, or for $.99 travel sized EveryManJacks at a Target.

I don't really know. Even when I'm shaving in a hurry it doesn't take very long to whip up a nice traditional lather. To each their own, I suppose.

Back in the day when I first conquered the DE razor (it had eluded my capability the first few clueless years), some kind of canned foam was the rule, not the hated "goo" at all, but some people had always liked a brushless and latherless product. I had both Gillette shave creams in the tube, lathering, and non-lathering. I used the brushless, and my old Injector, when I was in a hurry (a TracII eventually became the replacement "hurry it up" razor).

Barbasol was one of the best canned products in the 1960s, and it still is, in my opinion, in the 21st Century.

Because lather isn't required for shaving, that's why. You may prefer lather and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but at the end of the day, trimmin' the whiskers (by whatever means) is the name of the game.

Well it should be :)

I'm most likely one of the few here that doesn't like whipping up a lather. I just find the process when included with all the extra prep I take with DE shaving to be just too time consuming. For me the greatest pleasure in wetshaving is just the shave with the DE itself and how smooth it is. I justified a purchase on a shavemac silvertip in the hopes of making the lathering process more fun, but to no avail.

I'll put my Shiseido Men brushless cream against any brush lather cream and it will come out on top.
The only reason I don't use it more often is the fun factor.
Brushes are cool, whipping up lather is fun.

Brushless cream is the way to go for travel IMO. Only one tube to take and a razor.
Easy as pie.
