A while back I purchased a vintage (1960's) British travel grooming kit. This is the kind that is leather, zips up like a portfolio and contains a myriad of chrome containers etc. inside. Its a pretty nice kit with a real tortoise shell comb, polished steel mirror, razor, best badger travel brush, etc. It also has two genuine bristle wooden hand brushes, and I'm wondering what those are for. I have so far assumed that one is a lint brush and the other is a nail brush, but I can't really tell which is which and, for that matter, I'm not even sure my assumption regarding their purpose is correct. What makes it even more interesting is that one of the brushes has a plastic liner between it and the leather case and the other doesn't. I would assume that the one that has a liner it intended to get wet or dirty or both, and the plastic is to protect the leather. But neither a lint brush nor a nail brush would likely get wet, though a nail brush might get marginally dirty I suppose. Also, both brushes are about the size of the palm of my hand. Most nail brushes I've seen are narrower.
