Brush with more .

I am looking into purchasing a new brush. I have a couple of vdh brushes, but those seem a little soft to me. They lather great in my limited experience. I have looked at some Semogues and some Omegas. Does the B and B one from West Coast lather well? I am looking for one with more scritchiness or back bone. Not sure if I am using those terms correctly. Thanks a lot.

Others here are more experience with boar brushes. I'll leave giving that advice to them, other than to say I have an Omega Pro 10098 (can be had for about $13) that I think is a great brush.

Boars tend to have a lot of backbone but I don't find mine to be scritchy (as in scratch in combination with itch). Others have made similar observations. I think that's due to the larger diameter of boar bristles as compared to badger hair, especially the springy but fine 2-band variety. In my experience boar brushes can be very scrubby without being scritchy. From my POV, that's a good thing.

+1 I have never got any scritch at all out of a broken in boar brush.

Another vote for Pure badger.

Simpsons makes several very fine pure badger brushes.

I had a Beaufort B4 for a while and it was the stiffest brush I owned. Great face lathering brush.

The B&B brush is a fine boar brush and very resonably priced. It lathers great and would be my pick if you want an awesome brush for $20. Lots of backbone (stiff bristles) but the tips get soft very quickly as it breaks in (NO scritch).

Also, the Omega brushes are pretty good and all around $8-15 each so it's easy to try a few on a budget.

Thanks guys. I think I am going to order the B and B one from West Coast along with some other stuff of course.
