Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to grab this one in the morning, not an auction.

Let me ask you this. Would you drive 60 miles and spend $45.00 for this razor? Just curious because this is how far and how much this razor will cost me.

It's boxed, and looks great ... probably yes.

I paid 20 euros for a #59 with some slight brassing, and no box. I think I got a nice deal, and I would jump on yours too :001_smile

yes i would go for it,$45 is about £28, these go for about 2 or 3 times that for a boxed one even in the uk, these razors shine up like crazy with a good polish, if you like brit gillette tto razors you will love the 58, a few brit gillette guys on here put it up there with the brit aristocrats, i would say they are not far wrong, a real classic.

I've got an HD500 / #59 Rocket (same family). It's a superb razor. Do buy it, as many have said you'll regret it if you don't!
Do let us know the eventual outcome.

Cheaper if they mail it. Gas being close to $4 a gallon I don't know what sort of milage you get but add that round trip to the cost if the razor. If you mapped.out either vintage stores there maybe then it may be worth it. First see if this can be mailed. Post office will drop off boxes to peoples home. With my gas mileage I couldn't.

^ agreed. Add to that 2 hrs of your personal time with a special trip.

If you can make an event of it and an outing in some other way, I say go for it.

I just got a #58 set in today, and I couldn't be happier! Just like the rocket HD, but with nicer knurling. It will definitely be a workhorse in my rotation. If you haven't already, GO GET IT! :thumbup1:

I went out and picked it up today. The razor is in fantastic condition, the box is another story. The Woman who sold it to me gave me the background on this razor. She said it was her Fathers razor he kept it under the bathroom sink in the box for years never used it much so over the years with water leaks and spills the box took the abuse luckily the razor was not damaged. She also told me the razor was her Dad's pride and joy, She said a military group came here to the U.S from England to train with hr Fathers unit in the late 50's and he received it at a goodbye gift exchange when the group went back over to England at the conclusion of their training.

Definitely worth the drive!

most of the boxes the 58 comes in are in bad condition, mine included, the razor looks mint, with a polish that thing will shine, most ofthe boxes my razors came in are stinking condition, the 58,59rocket,66 and my aristocrat jrs, but all the razors were in mint condition after a clean and polish, at the end of the day thats what matters to me, i havetried to clean up the boxes, but they looked no better.
