British Gillette #66 ?

I believe this is a British Gillette #66 that I was informed I will be receiving as a gift. I am a bit shocked at this point but would appreciate your thoughts and info on this razor.

The #66 is a wonderful razor. One of my favorites to shave with. It has very good weight and balance and strikes the right balance between gentle and aggressive, in my opinion.

It's rhodium plated, which means it won't tarnish or rust (as long as the plating is in tact).

It's a sought after razor and you are getting a very nice gift! Congratulations and enjoy.

That's a beautiful piece, I was the second highest bidder on it. Glad it's going to someone here on the B&B, everything Ive heard says they are about as good as it gets (of course we all have our favorites, I am still trying different types to see what I like).

Enjoy it, and post some more pics of it when you get the chance (BTW, I also liked that that particular auction was a benefit for the British Heart Foundation too- everyone wins in an auction like that!).

hi
myself ,almost put a bid on it , as t rick said ,good that has gone to someone on the forum :001_smile

but never used it.

I'd love to, but daren't. I reckon I might keep my eyes open for a non-mint razor and flick it onto the highest bidder.

It's one of the most gorgeous razors out there! I have one in close to mint condition and I just love the look and feel of it and it delivers great shaves.

I am missing my blade case, if you are willing to sell your PM me.

Thank you all for your comments.

The reason I am shocked is, as some know, my wife is going through Cancer treatment(Radiation at the moment) and I had told her that my current collection would be it. She has worked a few hours on and off since she found out she had Breast cancer and saved up a little here and there. Now, a while back, she had asked if there was a razor I would really like to have. I said I have plenty. One day she saw me looking at some British razors including the #66. She asked which of those do you like best. I pointed one out and then she asked if I had it. I said no but that I had plenty to keep me entertained for the rest of my life. Then, she and my daughters sprung this on me. A testament as to the person she is. Always thinking of others even when she feels terrible herself.

I am excited and can't wait to receive it. I will certainly post pics when it arrives.

Wow...I didn't have anything more than that to say for a moment after I read this. That's a genuinely touching story. I wish you guys all the best and hope your wife is doing well.

Wow is right, she's one helluva Gal obviously :thumbup1:. Man am I glad I wasn't high bidder on that one!!! I would say I was sorry for bidding the price higher, but as I said, it was also a charity benefit, so it sounds like win/win/win to me.

Enjoy it, it will obviously be extra extra special to you, may it bring you even a fraction of the joy your wonderful wife must already bring to your life.

She sounds like a terrific, thoughtful, loving woman. What a sweet thing for her to do.

I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers for a quick and full recovery.

On a lighter note, this will be a wonderful razor to use on special days, especially your birthday and you and your wife's anniversary.
I'm very happy for you (not just because of the razor)

A beautiful razor. I bid on that one and was disappointed not to win. I feel a bit better about not winning now.

Thanks for the added eye candy. I wish well for your wife. I hope everything goes well for you and you can both look back at your conquering of this bump in the road of life.
