Bread for thanksgiving

Some friends invited us over for thanksgiving and asked me if I couldn't bake bread for the dinner (they knew that I bake a lot of sourdough bread). Having only ever been to one thanksgiving dinner I'm not entirely sure what kind of bread is expected. I have a very nice hazelnut/cranberry bread that is delicious and kind of goes along the theme (at least the cranberry part) but it's a bit heavy and I'm not sure it the right thing to bring.

So what do you Americans say, what would be a good bread?

Traditional Thanksgiving bread is usually soft rolls. I would think that any fluffy bread would complement turkey and gravy nicely. My personal recommendation is: go light. I think artisan bread of almost any type would go well with a Thanksgiving meal.

A friend told me about pumpkin bread....from the description, it seemed to be a banana bread-like consistency. Sounded great to me....like pumpkin pie in bread form.:thumbup1:

clover leaf buns from a local bakery are always my favorite for thanksgiving. However any nice soft white rolls would work. Though if your speciality is sourdough, it may pay to ask if you could bring a loaf or two along.

Hello mikromicke, from the other side of the bay.

I make Cheddar Bay Biscuits that are always a hit at Thanksgiving.
