What's new

Brand new strop, but may need to sand it.

So i just got "the natural" 3 inch hanging strop from straight razor designs. Its a beautiful strop, but i found one little raised mark. Its my first strop, but i feel i will have to sand it out before using it. Im not one for getting in fights and bad mouthing a company. With that said im a little disappointed...
hope the picture can pick the spot up

Im gonna get in contact and talk with them, but wait to Monday. I just got it this afternoon and being the weekend and all...
I was just looking forward to my first straight shave... Just got my first pro-honed razor earlier this week.
So I'm not a pro, and I'll probably cut it worst then that spot... But i know that spot won't help get that edge ready to shave with

Its a raised spot. No doubt...
Your the pro doc as far as I'm concerned... Seen your name on many of posts.
It is a raised little spot....

It's just my first impression. Hesitation...
If I had the choice of one or two strops (same design from SRD), depending on how the others looked. More then likely, gone with the other ones.
Like I said, beautiful strop... But it has birth mark. Altho it can make a women, do I want it on my strop....
More then likely, I'm over thinking it?!?!

They'll swap it out for you. The only drawback is you'll have to wait another ten days before you get it back. If you just had your razor pro honed, it's ready to shave with now and I would recommend using it as-is for your first shave, without stropping, because it's as sharp as ever right now, and you should know what a shave is like with the edge at it's best so you have a good comparison after you do strop it.

Think I might stick with my double edges.. Don't know if all this is worth it

Altho it might be it's sharpest, the razor edge should be stropped after it's been bouncing in the mail for a couple of days no?

Depends where you got it from, most strop before sending them out, a few days in the mail should be fine.

You can strop on newspaper until you get your strop back, youtube it

I suppose it's not worth worrying about. There's a chance you might do a lot worse.. I just tore up a beautiful TM. Had to sand the whole thing to even it out!

i'm with the proffesor on this one....

you paid a high price for a piece of pristine leather..... you got a blem.... you didn't pay for a blem...

either return for a pristine one... or partial refund for living with a defect...

just sayin...

Im just gonna tally this one up in the lost row... Bend over and take it.
Im sure they would make it up to me, but i dont want to take the time..
when i decide to get a new strop/peice of leather, I'll just look else where... I know now

On the bright side, i did my first straight shave today... Man do i feel like a bad ***!
