Bought me a Lamy Al=Star !

The bug hit HARD today. I have a Smith & Wesson tactical pen that was a Christmas gift, really cool blue color. I remembered that Lamy likes their colors, and found an Ocean Blue that would match my other pen almost perfectly (Rollerball/Fountain pen color coded combo!!!) Found that World Lux in Seattle had them on sale. Contacted them, and SOLD OUT!!!!! Remembered seeing them at the University Bookstore while hunting for gift for wife at xmas. Called, they had one in a medium nib, but it was $10 more than sale price. Long story short, wound up buying it and a converter, plus a pack of cartridges. Now for the question of the day. Which BLUE ink should I purchase?????

Very nice! What kind of properties do you look for in ink? I would say Noodler's Liberty's Elysium or Pelikan Edelstein Topaz to start!

My favorite blue is Noodler's American Blue Eel.

As for a blue, all of them. My current favorites are J. Herbin 1680 ocean blue, PR midnight blues, De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes. I don't like really light blues.

Pelikan Royal Blue has supplanted Baystate Blue as my favorite blue ink.

Bottled Lamy blue is very nice, the bottle is great, good price.

Bought a box of cartridges, will go back for the Lamy blue bottle, only $8.50!!! Looks nice, I have Noodlers black in my Parker 21 and 45. I think I will use the Lamy Blue in the Al-Star, and my Cross Aventura (which has a blue body)!!!

Seattle they are great inks for the record not just nice looking bottles... but you do pay a bit for the glass
