Bought Four Vintage Razors for $6.40

The first time I went out shopping for a Gillette DE I walked out of the antique mall with a Gillette DE, two SE Gems (one a Micromatic) and one SE Ever-Ready. They originally were priced for $25, then $20, then the set of 4 for $8.00. When I went to pay, I found out the vendor had her stuff 20% off! So, I think I did well. They all cleaned up well and are in great shape.

I'll try to post the actual model names for all of them later. Anyway, this morning, at the age of 46 I had my first (that I can remember) DE shave which included Proraso cream and my old boar hair brush. Went fine. No nicks but I have room for improvement on closeness. I took it easy the first time.

I recently switched to SE Bic disposables for wet shaves until I could get a real DE. Once I learned some basics about a wet shave, even the inexpensive SE Bics were working better than my favorite twin blade disposables!

Wow, awesome finds!! And I thought I was doing really well when I bought a Gem Micromatic (Open Comb) for a mere $3.00.

You really have to try out the SE razors. They are an entirely different shaving experience when compared to a DE. It's something that shouldn't be missed. The audible feedback as your whiskers are being cut is awesome!!

Holy crap I'm so jealous of you guys that can fine a bunch of razors cheap in just on antique store. I've gotta work really hard and visit 7 or 8 places before I can find anything let alone something cheap... frustrating!:cursing:

Today I found a chrome-plated 1912 Ever-Ready in great condition and a blue-handled Gillette Knack that's cleaning up nicely. Total cost: $7.00. I'm pleased.
