Boker or Dovo

I have only bought and used vintage str8s so far. Looking at a couple of new ones the Boker Edelweiss 5/8 and the Dovo 4580 in 5/8 look to be nice choices.

What would you be looking at in this price range?

Both are probably equal. Just remember with the Boker it's a resurrected razor and not the same as the vintage which are superior in my opinion.

Since the Bokers are resurrected, I'd go with the Dovo.

I have no experience with Bokers, but I do have a few Dovos and find them to be nice.

The Dovo 4580 is very nice and takes a very good edge. I only warn about one thing. My experience with the one I used to have is that it oxidized *very* quickly. I'm not sure why it did and not the Dovo Best Quality I had, considering that supposedly they use the same blanks for both.

I imagine that the Boker is just as nice. I do not know how it compares to vintage Bokers, having never owned either. But Boker has existed continuously and continues to make good cutlery, including kitchen cutlery. They at least have that going for them, even if they had a period of not making razors.

For what it's worth, I preferred vintage Bokers to new Dovo's. Never used a new Boker, though.
