Blue/black Russian Gillette 7 o'clock???

Hello all,

Has anyone heard of or used the Blue/Black Russian Super Platinums?

After buying a sampler I really liked the Black Indian Super Platinums. I ordered what I thought were more from a different supplier but when they came in they were indeed Super Platinums but the package is blue/black in colour and they are made in St Petersberg Russia.

I've never heard of these blades. Has anyone tried them and are they comparable with the Indian Super Platinums?

Ok folks, 52 views and no response. I've not found any posts about blue/black Russian Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinums so I figure I'll just try them for a week and let you know what they're like.

whoa, this came from uk ebay btw.

It was Uk ebay I got mine from and that's the photo I saw too. Initially I just thought there was perhaps too much flash making the black look blue. Sorry I've not got pictures up but I've been away from home for the last fortnight. I'll see what I can do when I get home. The package looks like blue/black ink if anyone still uses fountain pens.

Ok so the good news. I've had 3-4 shaves with one and it seems smoother than the Indian version and otherwise very similar. I will have to test them back to back, ie new blacde to new blade with the same soap.

What I can say is that if you like the Indian Super Platinums you'll like the Russian ones.

Another member here (local to me) found some blue (as seen in person) super platinums that were made in the Czech Republic.

I havent ever seen the blueish package myself. I currently use and really like the black pack though. To me they are as sharp as a Feather but not harsh like one. I can get around 6 or 7 shaves from one which is really unusual. Also the consistancy seems good as well. I have not found a bad one. For me they are the best, the only other blades I even have a tiny urge to try are Astra Superior and Super Iridium(but again tiny urges)

Here is what I can say about the 2 versions of the 7 o'clock super platinum.
I've been using the indian [black label], but 2 months ago bought a 7 o'clock Super platinum razor on ebay which is manufactured in Russia by Petersburg products and includes 1 super platinum blade that is bluish and is made in Russia. After a direct 4-day comparison I must say that the black Indian blade is fantastic, but the bluish Russian is a bit sharper. After the first strokes with the Russian blade I just couldn't believe it. Both in terms of smoothness are 10/10. Pity I can't buy the Russian variety. But still I love the Indian blacks.

I bought 25 of the blue/black Rusian blades on the Bay from England. I'm sure I overpaid some, but my goodness, these blades are absolutely fantastic! I've been a fan of the yellow pack 7 O'Clock, but the blue pack Super Platinum just throws rocks at the yellows in terms of sharpness and smoothness. I don't use my blades past four shaves, and usually go three before replacement, so I can't speak to the longevity of these blades, they definitely are extremely sharp, and buttery smooth.

For the guys looking for a replacement for the old Swedes, check the blue pack Super Platinum 7 O'Clocks out. I will certainly be buying more in the near future.

Was Scissors-Man the seller? How much was shipping?

That was the guy. I don't recall exactly how much exactly the blades were and how much was the shipping, but total delivered for 25 blades was like $19. More than yellows, about the same if I were to buy Swedes if they were readily available. I'll buy a hundred next time and knock the per blade cost down some.
