So I bought my girl a Lady Gillette a couple of months ago and she loves it. I have been her blade supplier - she has in fact never even changed a blade - I always do it for her. I gave her some Shark's (my favorite) and then I also started unloading the other blades that I don't particularly care for - Walmart Personna, Merkur, some vintage Gillettes - hoping they would work well for her. She doesn't even normally know when the blade has been changed - but I will know if its bad or if it is time to change because she tells me. Last night I loaded a new Merkur, and this morning was the first time she had used it. Low and behold she came out of the shower complaining about how cut up her legs were. I apologized - I really didn't intend to hurt her with the Merkur. But I realized that I have a blind, unbiased razor blade tester at my disposal. Here is the score so far....
1. The Walmart Personna - decent for a 3-4 shaves
2. Vintage Gillette - Great for a shave, then its slice and dice
3. Merkur - As bad as advertised here
4. Shark - Smooth and long lasting edge
