Blades

Hi,

I've been wet shaving with a Gillette Tech for about a month now. I bought a blade sample pack and have found that the stainless steel Astras and the Gillette platinum 7 oclocks seem to give me the best shaves of those Ive tried. I've found that a single WTG and 2 ATGS leave me with a very close shave. (XTG does nothing for me.)

Any words of advice at this point? Should I stick with one blade now (most likely the Astra's) and hone my technique? Or do you think I'd be better served by trying a few of the other blades in my sampler?

Awaiting words of wisdom ...

Stick with one blade and hone your technique. If you are happy thus far, improve things and then after a few more months, try out different blades, razors, brushes, soaps, etcetera, Hee hee. Good luck.

Sticking with the same blade is usually a good idea. Then again, I'd say give the ones that are working well for you about a week, so you get a better feel for it, then maybe give another one a shot. Just don't change anything else but the blade. Changing too many factors like razors or soaps/creams can cause problems when you are first starting out. There are a lot of good blades out there, and there are some that aren't that great. I'm thinking you may find (like I did) Astra SP is some of the best bang for the buck blades that there are. Red Personna and Crystals are also similar, and I think you'll enjoy them as well.

What they said. :thumbup1: Keep the regemin as consisten as possible for as long as you can, then start trying stuff out.

Thanks, guess I'll stick with the Astras for a bit and see how it goes. I only have one razor, brush and soap, so short of using a different towel, the only thing I can change at this point is the blade.
