Is there a general guide to matching razor blades to one's beard type? Seems Derby would be considered good for a soft or mild beard. Feather for rougher and tougher whiskers? What about personna, merkur or the rest. If an expert could please ignore ymmv and put together a general guide to help us newer guys choose that would be great!

Seriously, the best thing you could do for yourself is pick up a razor blade sampler from West Coast Shaving, and see which blades work best in your razors for yourself. There really is no right or wrong answer, but what works for you.
Yup. Too many variables in technique, hardware, and software. My beard is soft, and Derby was a bloodbath. Okay shaves, but the sink looked like a crime scene. AstraSP was better, and Gillette 7:00 Yellow better still.
