Blade in OC vs DE89

I was curious as to whether others have noticed that blades tend to have a lesser serviceable life when used in an Open Comb razor as oppoed to a razoe such as the Jagger 89. I ask because an Astra in my Fatip seem to be done after three days as opposed to 4-5 in the Edwin Jagger.....I suppose it may be due to greater blade exposure, as an open comb simply needs a sharper blade to be effective?

I find that blades last the longest in my slants.

Many times I think a blade is a gonner and I will pop it out then drop it into one of my slants and it shaves like a new blade.

I think my R41 eats through blades the quickest. I like using a blade with 3 shaves or less on it in the R41

I think this is right; that is, a blade in my OC Gillette seems to deteriorate to "why am I still using this blade" at around shave 3 while in a safety bar razor at shave 3 I generally pitch the blade but say to myself "well, not as good as shaves 1 or 2, but I could keep going" and sometimes do with generally acceptable results.

Also, on another shaving site I recently found a discussion along exactly this line, that OC blades are good for only about 2 shaves (if I recall correctly, he then put the same blade in a safety bar razor and used it at least once more). If I find that reference I'll post it.
