I hear a lot of people talking about the 7 am yellow pack. I have some green pack blades, which I never hear anyone speak of.
How do they compare, generally?

there's a difference between "7 a.m." blades, which are generally considered to be s**t, and Gillette 7 o'clocks, which come in different colored (yellow, green, and black) packs.
More people seem to like the Yellows. For me, they were plenty sharp, but they just dragged a fair bit.
Haven't tried any of the other ones.
hope this helps.
dang. didn't read that closely enough. I was referring to the o'clocks of course. the "a.m.s" are indeed "doodoo."
The Yellow and Green 7'O Clocks are Russian made while the blacks are Indian made (is there a Green Indian version too?) Anyways, I've only tired the Russian Green ones and sad to say, they aren't really that great. I get better results form Greek made BICs (as a basis for comparison). Of course as we always say here in B&B, YMMV![]()
I just checked my stash, I have the Bangladeshi "7 a.m." from the Samah Razor Blades Ind. Inc. LTD company.
I thought I was buying the "7 o'clock" blades I was hearing about. I got screwed, I suppose.
Lesson Learned: Read what the label says, not what you think it says.
I like the 7A.M.s. I may be the only one on earth. I think that it is 7A.M.'s marketing idea to get people that aren't fully knowledged in blades to get these thinking they are the Gillettes. I'm sure that you aren't the only one.
Gillette 7 O'Clocks
Yellow Sharpedge = Russian
Green Sharpedge = Russian
Green Permasharp = Indian
Black Super Platinum = Indian
The Indian Green Permasharp is a good shaver, the black is a king. It is almost as sharp as a feather and can get very uncomfortable for the uninitiated.
The general consensus seems to be that the yellow packs (which have a different coating) are sharper, last longer, and give smoother shaves. Of course, YMMV, but I agree with that opinion.
