I'm on shave #2 with my new Muhle R41 (2013) and was wondering how to use it for best results. I'm asking this bcecause on my first pass and on problem areas, the blade seems to "catch" or stop a little, moreso than my Merkur 39c Slant but less than my Muhle R89. I epsecially notice this right onthe tip of my chin and just under my chin, which is the hardest area for me to shave and for which I cannot get even decent results more than once in a blue moon. I make more faces (bullfrog, bringing lower lip up, jaw forward) than a clown at a circus.
I have typically held the handle of the razor parallel to the floor and then lowered it gradually until the razor starts cutting, but I'm wondering if a steeper angle would work better.
Is there a way to determine the "best cutting angle" short of ""YMMV - try it and see?"
