This is an old thread but I'm going to make a light box with cardboard etc., and see if I can use a black background as I would a white one but only light the subject from either side trying not to light the background. Not sure if this will work. I live in a small apartment so I don't have a lot of room or tabletop space. Happy to take feedback if anyone reads this.
