Better handle for Semogue 620

Love, Love, Love this boar, but the handle is too slippery. Any suggestions? Even for a replacement....

Hey Batman, have you ever checked out the Semogue 1305? It's purportedly the same (or a very similar) knot as the 620, only with a wooden handle. It's also one of my personal favorites!

I was looking at that one, but needed to hear members' opinions. Thanks!!

Are Omega's better?

Ooh, that's going to be a very subjective question. I've never tried any Omega brushes, but I honestly don't feel the need to try any other boars. I simply love what Semogue has to offer! :001_wub:

Omega's are fine brushes but I give a slight advantage to Semogue for workmanship and style. IMO. I follow the Semogue threads closely and you will conistently see high marks for the 620, 830, 1250, 1305, and the venerable SOC. All fine brushes and when we get to debating which to choose the standard response is "get both". I think picking a Semogue is almost like picking a kitten... just reach in and grab one! The only thing you have to decide is what handle and knot style best suits you.

I've tried several Omega boar brushes, including Omega's high end series. Semogue brushes are better in my opinion.
The 1438 and 1520 have the same knot as the 620, but they come with different handles. I have all three and like them all.

decisions, decisions.....I'm going for the 1305. Hard decision over the 1438 & 1520. I like the handle a bit more.

Thanks everyone!

Batman, the 1305 and 620 Kent's are NOT the same. The 1305 is much softer and floppier. The 1438 has the exact same knot as does anoth brush which I can't remember at the moment.

The 620 has a shorter loft and is stiff and great for soaps The 830 I use for creams. I can't find a reason to upgrade these two beauties as I love them so much! They brighten up my bathroom!
The only Omega I am thinking of buying is the Barber Pole pure badger as I don't have a badger and it looks amazing but if this is too soft I'll go crazy so it's a risk at the price it is!

Better is a broad definition. They have certain models/styles that have their niche/place just as Semogues. I have certain Omegas that I wouldn't trade for any other brand/type of brush.

There you go. Semogue often has an acrylic and a wood brush with the exact same knot, and sometimes more than one wood handled version. Check out these two and see which style handle appeals to you.

I appreciate the info, but I'm committed to the 1305.
