Best way of clearing mild rust off a blade.

I recently was able to get ahold of a nice SR from an estate sale that was in need of some good ol' TLC



The blade actually feels sharp already, but I planned on doing a rehone to begin with. My issue is there's a tad of rust at the shoulder and tang of the blade.

I was wondering if there was a simple solvent to help remove the rust without taking away too much of the metal?

00 steel wool should take care of that. I would definitely hone it, that has the beginnings of a frown.

Autosol or MAAS will knock off surface rust and give the blade a polish.

Might be able to do it with some mothers metal polish.
