I've only been wetshaving for about 4 months now, so I'm still in the training wheels period, I suppose. My setup this morning was:
10 minute shower for prep
Brush: Tweezerman
Cream: TOBS Avocado (holy crap, I'm in love with this stuff)
Razor: Mergress (setting 1.5 for first reduction pass, 2.5 for subsequent passes)
Blade: Feather Platinum (so effective)
Post-shave: Alum Block w/cold water rinse, Nivea Soothing ASB
Result: My face feels so good. I don't know how to rate my shave other than I have no visible stubble, but more importantly I have no visible irritation. Shaving this way just feels right. I really appreciate B&B for opening this whole new world to me.
What I've learned so far:
1) Face-lathering, Bowl-lathering, whatever-lathering: don't skimp on the product or the water.
2) No pressure doesn't mean less pressure, it means NO PRESSURE!
3) Find something that works and stick to it. Corollary: Use a product for at least a few shaves before giving it the old heave-ho.
4) Go slow! I think Kanye West would appreciate this..."Go slow, homie, just pump your brakes and go slow."
5) Don't try for BBS. I realized that for me, that goal is just unattainable. I get irritation no matter what on ATG passes. I just stopped trying and the caliber of my shave has improved drastically with 2 WTG passes and 1 clean up pass.
6) If you don't know, ask. B&B is so helpful and really is a community of knowledgeable, friendly shavers.
That's all for now. Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to get that off my chest.
