Best low priced soap?

I see Col. Conks, Williams, VDH, Edwin Jagger, Proraso, Omega and Mama Bear shave soaps for a decent price. What is the best quality low-priced soap? Are there any not listed here? Where is the cheapest place to buy them? Thanks!

Probably VDH for me. I've got a soup bowl that I melted about 8 pucks of VDH and half a bottle of vetiver essential oil in. It's great.

price-quality, I would say it's hard to beat P.160 duro. It's very inexpensive, it lasts a super-long time and the performance is second-to-none.

honorable mention goes to Cella, although a little more expensive.

Many of the soaps mentioned in threads such as this are available much cheaper outside the U.S. The only 2 really cheap soaps available to me in SW FL which still perform well seem to be Williams and VDH. They are less than $2 a puck. Anything else, though not unreasonably priced, exceeds $5 a puck or stick, and is much cheaper abroad. Following for cheap stuff to experiment with!!!

Yeah, the cheap stuff falls in to two categories...cheap and available and cheap elsewhere.

The only local soaps I've found are Williams and VDH Deluxe and Glycerine. Of those, I prefer Williams, but I don't kid myself that any of these are top of the line products.

If you live where Palmolive shave stick is available, you have a cheap soap that has great performance.

Can't wait for a trip to Europe to get some great inexpensive stuff!

The only three you can probably buy in Kansas are Col Conks, Williams and VDH. And maybe L'Occitane Cade (at $10) if you are close to a mall with a L'Occitane store. VDH and Col Conks are ok. Williams sucks. I would suggest VDH, which can be purchased at Wal-Mart for about $1.50. If you see Williams there, don't get it, because it sucks.

If you have time and a little bit of money, the others are fine and many people love them. A soap will last 100-200 shaves, so price really isn't that big a deal for a $5 - $10 soap.

Oh, and sometimes Tobacco Shops have shaving gear. That's the only place I ever see it "in the wild."

Remember.... Williams sucks.

(Ok, just kidding about the Williams. It costs about $1.50, and 1/2 of the members here like it, 1/2 hate it. Give it a try, and if you don't like it, you can use it as a shower soap. But it works perfectly fine).

Tabac is virtually the same as MB now...

Her soaps are running $10+ now, not to mention shipping... Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm going to be buying any more MB for a while. They're great soaps, and smell wonderful, but they simply don't last as long. With them being within a buck of Tabac, or even more expensive, it's hard for me to justify buying them. Granted big T doesn't come in it's own bowl, but you can slap it in an old coffee mug with perfect results (or mill it into anything, if you're so inclined).

Godrej Shave Round is a quite good soap for a low price. $3 per puck from West Coast:

or $1 each from Beyboo's store in India, just make sure you order a large enough volume of items to get the most bang for your buck on shipping:

**Note that the shopping cart feature of this website doesn't presently work, and you should thus contact Beyboo directly for shipping costs, and purchasing.

The best is arguably the Palmolive shave stick. I've heard that on the UK they're sold on the stores for 50p, you can't beat that.

Can the shave sticks be melted down or are they sticks that have to be milled to fit in a mug. Thanks!
