What's new

Best brush I can get for 50-60$?

Hi gents.

I havn't been around much lately, I still have a lot of shaving stuff still to try. But now I'd like a new brush. I used a pure badger brush for a while and I'd like to upgrade, and keep the pure to travel.

I checked Fendrihan's website, and for 60$ I could get their best, super even the silvertip is on sale. I'm still not sure I get all the differences between the different grades. Do you really feel it?

You can definitely feel a difference between the different hair grades. Check out the Simpson Berkeley in Best, which is a nice, small dense brush, and is very much in your price range.

I can't speak for the berkeley as I don't own one yet..... the key word is yet.....but a Simpson's Case in Best is also in the range. A great face latherer to be sure !!!! Smallish handle tho.

That was my question long time ago, yes you can feel it ( from pure badger to super badger to silvertip ) . I use a Vulfix super badger but a few months ago my wife buy me a rooney pure badger . Im in love with my new rooney pure badger
is no so floppy is no so hard .

Hello, A Edwin Jagger Best Badger Brush can be purchased for about $50 shipped and it's a good all around cream and soap brush in the best hair grade.

I totally agree. It's a good brush at a good price. It works great with my soaps. In my opinion, it's the best bang for the buck.

Here's a link so you can check it out.

EDIT: It looks like they are out of stock at the moment. But at least you can see it up close and get some details.

You can get a TGN Finest knot set in a custom Rudy Vey wood handle for about 60 USD.
Well worth a thought :thumbup1:

I should've started with this :p

I'm looking for an all around brush. I use soaps and creams, not one more than the other. I shave with a DE and a straight, depending of how much I have time to shave. I face lather with the DE, and bowl lather with the straight, I also make superlathers when I go with the straight.

What would be the practical difference between best, super, and silvertip brushes? Except the price and the feeling on the skin? I'm still confused.

+2 on the Simpson Colonel X2L. The best all-around brush for $65. and under. The Simpson best hair grade is equivalent to most other makers silvertip. Not the softest tips, but more than soft enough and excellent backbone. You can bowl lather or face lather with it and it works equally well with soaps or creams.

+3 for Colonel. But they have to change the pictures of brushes on their web site. BTW I am very confused because of Colonel's price is $95 on Fendrihan:scared:
