Best Boar Brush

I see a thread here titled "Best brush under 100$".

Lets find out what the best boar brush under 10$ is. You all know someone you want to convert but don't want to buy them a 200$ set up, but you would be fine with 30-40$. Build your kit. Start with the brush.

An Omega #49 would be my advise. It's big but not overly so.

I second the 49. Unless you think the person would be grossed out by it, I would also suggest using the brush for a couple weeks to break it in and defunk it for them. Otherwise the smell and break in period may stop them after first use.

I will follow this thread because any "Best of" thread is fun! $10 is a pretty tight margin though. That said, I am firmly convinced that I could blindly grab any Semogue brush and use it with great effectiveness for the rest of my life. Every time I get a new Semogue I am continually impressed. You can get some models for under $10 from Vintage Scent.

BUT........ You gotta have a Badger & Blade Essential Boar!!! Worth the $20!

Many people (myself included) suspect that the Turkish #6 Horse Hair shaving brush is, in reality, Boar!!! Ghasp!
But at $2.45 at shavetools.com, who cares? It's a great brush that can really take a beating! I use it quite often along with my Omega 20102 Boar.

I'm going to throw in Semogue 1520 or 1470. Technically they are more than $10 but can be had for that or under on B/S/T.

I think the largeness of the 49 could be intimidating to a new shaver and would look towards these as a good starter Boar; 10072,10077, 10099, and pushing the limit 10810.

I am philosophically opposed to a brush in the single digit price range.

The B&B Essential is a very good brush for $20.

Personally, I'd recommend a Semogue. Skip lunch a couple of days if you have to.

The Omega Pro 49 is hard to beat. It's my second favorite brush. My favorite brush cost $85.00, I paid only $9.00 for the 49. How can you beat that?
