What's new

Best big brushes...

Hey everyone, I'm looking to purchase a new brush in the near future and wanting some advice.

Right now I'm using an omega pro boar and loving it. I feel like I'm ready to try a nice badger now, perfect timing for my upcoming birthday.

I haven't had many brushes but i have had a normal sized badger, a small scrubby boar, and a large softer boar. I really like my big boar so have decided to get a huge badger mainly for creams while my omega pro will be used for soaps.

So what brush would you guys recommend for a big badger? I'm thinking 28-30mm knot and i like larger handles.

Shavemac would be great also to look at as well. They are in Germany so it'll take a bit to get, but they make excellent brushes, and you can customize the brush quite a bit. Bulb shaped knot, fan knot, want a bit longer loft, shorter, specific hair grade, recently found out they'll do a mix of hair grades, many handles to choose from, can have the brush engraved, just many options!

I'd probably look in the traditional line first as they have the options to go from 18mm to 30mm brushes. To see the exact measurements click on the picture and then view the second image and you'll find the measurements. But take a look at all the categories, and send them an e-mail if you got any questions. Excellent to deal with!

All the others mentioned are great as well, so it's just really you'll have to look at them all and see. Kent also has a monster of a brush, but the handle might not be exactly for you. It was just too awkward for me. Hope you find that next brush!

I would go for the big kent.

The saville row 28mm is a monster also. I had one and it was incredible.

In addition to the brushes already mentioned, the large Omega Silvertips are an excellent, large, soft brush with some backbone. They are a real lather monster and have about the nicest 'face feel' you can get. BTW, I have all of the brushes mentioned above save the Simpsons, and all are very nice.

I expect Mike 'Antique Hoosier' to be along directly to guide you on large brushes.
